Tau Ceti X-Y Finder (TC-XY)

The Tau Ceti X-Y finder is used to offset a guiding eyepiece or autoguider from the center of the field-of-view (FOV) of a guidescope in lieu of utilizing the traditional 3-point ring mount. This allows the guidescope to be held in place solidly and avoids the potential for differential flexure.

Coupling is via standard 1-1/4" male and female interfaces, or via M42 (T-thread) interfaces for maximum stiffness. The backfocus required is approximately 1-1/2". Precise offsetting of the autoguider or guiding eyepiece is via separate x and y control knobs which allow +/-12mm of travel.

The X-Y finder is pictured below with a Mini Borg 50 scope. The Borg components used are:

6150 - 7602 (or 7508) - 7522 - TC-XY - 7522 - 7315

Specifications:

  • Travel: 12mm each direction from the center
  • Weight: 300g
  • Dimensions: 90mm x 90mm x 15mm
