Planet Town Medium format astrocamera systems
consist of a telescope adapter, film back,
vacuum pump, and focusing and composing back.
Telescopes which are specifically supported with special adapters are Borg and Takahashi. In addition, a generic Pentax 67 series lens-compatible version is also available allowing use with any telescope with a Pentax 67 camera interface (e.g. AP or Pentax scopes) or with standard Pentax 67 camera lenses.

Above, left is a Borg direct adapter (PM-B1) for 100 and 125mm F4 scopes, and to the right is a generic Pentax 67 adapter (PM-P67). Since one Borg scope option is a Pentax 67 interface, either camera adapter may be used with Borg F4 scopes. The advantage of the Borg direct adapter is that the slight vignetting due to the Pentax coupling is eliminated. However, the Pentax adapter has the advantage that it may be used as a stand-alone piggyback camera with Pentax lenses. |
Above, the Borg adapter is shown with the modified Mamiya 220 vacuum film back (PM220). Note the vacuum connector indicated by the arrow. |
