Taurus is dominated by star clusters, most obviously the
brilliant Pleiades and Hyades. Several fainter clusters lurk in
the background for telescopic observers. By far the most
interesting nebula is the Crab Nebula, M1, a supernova remnant.
The only other nebulae of note are the faint planetary nebula NGC
1514 and the unusual NGC 1555, also known as Hind's variable
nebula. Kappa Tauri (Kappa looks like a letter "k" on the chart)
is an wide separation double star for small telescopes, as is
Theta in the Hyades (on the chart, the letter theta looks like an
"o" with a line across it).
