  • February 8, 2008: Antelope Valley Astronomy Club lecture “Our Little Corner of the Galaxy – Cycles of Fire” — Open to the public, free admission.  See http://www.avastronomyclub.org/ for meeting information.

  • March 8, 2008: Temecula Valley Astronomers lecture “Our Little Corner of the Galaxy – Cycles of Fire” — Open to the public, free admission.  See http://tva.mrh.org/ for meeting information.

  • May 24, 2008: RTMC Astronomy Expo, keynote address “From Nine Planets to Nine Billion Worlds” — Chris is honored to be the keynote speaker at this important annual gathering of amateur astronomers from across the world.  There is a fee to attend RTMC; for information, see http://www.rtmcastronomyexpo.org/.  The event is held at Camp Oakes outside of Big Bear, California.

  • August 16, 2008: Riverside Astronomical Society lecture “Our Little Corner of the Galaxy – Cycles of Fire” — Open to the public, free admission.  See http://www.rivastro.org/ for meeting information.

  • November 1, 2008: Steamship Historical Society of America fall tea and art show — Chris will be one of several artists attending and displaying maritime art at this free event on board the majestic R.M.S. Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.  See http://www.sshsasocal.org/ for meeting information.  Chris currently holds the post of “Artist in Residence” of the Queen Mary.

  • November 19, 2008: College Endowment Association lecture “Alien Skies”, Milkwaukee, Wisconsin — This special event is only open to members of the CEA.

 

What’s Up Presentations

  • In 2008, Chris will continue to present some monthly sky update “What’s Up” presentations for the Orange County Astronomers at Chapman University in Orange.  This year, Chris will present the “What’s Up on January 11, April 11, July 11, and October 12.

These are brief 20 minute lectures, and all are invited, free of charge.  A main speaker will also be included in the program after Chris’s presentation.  See the OCA website (http://www.ocastronomers.org/) for directions and parking information.  Note that a permit must be printed from the website to park in the campus parking lots.
